What is Humane Education?

At Bunnies n Books, children learn about animal behaviors to better understand how they see the world and hence, how they can interact with them in a kinder, more compassionate fashion.

At The Blue Barn, we believe in the power of Humane Education — a compassionate, thoughtful approach that explores the deep interconnection between humans, animals, and the environment.

This educational philosophy encourages critical thinking and inspires students to tackle real-world issues with empathy and creativity. By supporting learners in addressing the problems they care about most, we help foster a future that is kinder, more compassionate, and safer for all.

Currently, we’re focused on growing our Bunnies n Books program, which promotes empathy and emotional development through reading. We believe that books can be powerful tools in shaping compassionate hearts, especially in children. An extension of this effort is our Bunny Tales summer reading program — a joyful celebration of literacy and kindness.
